Hakaya Misk Initiative is an initiative launched by the Mohammed Bin Salman Foundation (Misk) to support young talents in the fields of art creation in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and offer a suitable environment for them that would contribute to developing and refining their talents and turning them into professional skills in cooperation with global entities involved in the various fields of creativity.
The first edition of Hakaya Misk Initiative was launched in 2016. It seeks to uncover and support talents in the field of interactive story writing. The initiative featured further developments in its subsequent editions, as it became present in various Saudi and Gulf cities. The initiative currently covers the fields of content creation, story writing, visual production, and cinema production in all its stages, including drawing, animation, direction, and filming. In its 2019 edition, the initiative focused on the practical and interactive aspects, where visitors took part in visual production and filmmaking events.
Objectives of Hakaya Misk Initiative
Hakaya Misk Initiative contributed to supporting and enabling young talents in the Kingdom and abroad. It aims to assist in the cultural and economic growth of society, share creative and artistic expertise and experiences, contribute to fostering young talents and turning them into professional talents, form an artistic community capable of identifying and attracting young talents, and qualify these talents by holding training workshops and platforms.
Activities of Hakaya Misk Initiative
Since its launch in 2016 and until 2018, Hakaya Misk Initiative offered more than 1,250 workshops on writing, drawing, and animation production to around thirty-six thousand persons who participated in various training sessions and workshops: 9,102 persons attended the writing workshop, 9,531 persons attended the drawing workshop, 9,050 persons attended the production workshop, and around 8,328 persons attended the comics and animations workshop.
The events of the initiative held between 2016 and 2018, were attended by around seven hundred thousand visitors in the cities where the initiative was held: Riyadh, Jeddah, Tabuk, Abha, Abu Dhabi, and Manama.
In 2019, Hakaya Misk Initiative was launched at the Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Center in the capital, Riyadh. It was held from November 05 to November 11, 2019, and offered around 360 workshops.
In its first editions, the Hakaya Misk Initiative focused on writing, drawing, production, and animation workshops. In its 2019 edition, it focused on practical and interactive aspects, where the visitor, who initially was a silent viewer, became an interacting participant in the field of visual production and filmmaking.
