Jamil Suleiman Jalal (1934–2024) was known as the Mutawwif (guide for pilgrims) of kings and presidents for over seventy years. He guided the Founding King Abdulaziz Bin Abdulrahman Al Saud, and was considered one of the influential figures of Makkah al-Mukarramah in his time. He met numerous kings and presidents and accompanied them during their circumambulation of the Kaaba. His name became closely associated with the supplications of circumambulation and the call to prayer Takbeers in the Grand Mosque.
Life of Jamil Jalal
Jamil Jalal was born in Makkah al-Mukarramah City, where he memorized the Quran at an early age. He completed his primary education at the Sawlatiyah and Faisaliyah schools in Makkah al-Mukarramah. He then joined the Teachers’ Institute, where he completed a qualifying course for teaching, enabling him to transition into his professional life.

Jamil Jalal began his professional journey in education, working as a physical education teacher from 1961 to 1985. He also served as a Muezzin at the Grand Mosque for six years and started his role as a Mutawwif for kings in 1947 at the age of fifteen.

Jamil Jalal used to raise al-Bairaq flag for the Iftar cannon soldier to announce the time for breaking the fast during Ramadan. He was also recognized as a historical figure by the King Abdulaziz Public Library.
