The Mutawwif of Kings and Presidents is Jamil Suleiman Jalal. He served in this role for fifty years, starting in 1947, before he was over fifteen years old. He performed the Tawaf (circumambulation) for several kings and presidents, including the Founding King Abdulaziz Bin Abdulrahman Al Saud.
Jamil Suleiman Jalal was born in Makkah al-Mukarramah in 1934. He memorized the Quran from a young age and began his primary education at the Sawlatiyyah and al-Faisaliah schools in Makkah al-Mukarramah. Later, he completed a teaching qualification course and worked as a physical education teacher for twenty-five years, from 1961 to 1985. He also served as a muezzin in the Grand Mosque of Makkah al-Mukarramah for six years. He continued in his role and performed the Tawaf (circumambulation) for several presidents, princes, officials, and well-known figures during their visits to Makkah al-Mukarramah.
Jamil Suleiman Jalal serves as a witness to the longstanding tradition of performing Tawaf (circumambulation) around the Kaaba. This tradition has been considered an essential part of the duties within the Grand Mosque of Makkah al-Mukarramah for many decades and continues to evolve with new details and updates to the practice.
