The Eastern Province, covering a vast area of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, is home to several archaeological sites spread across its governorates.

Thaj City

It is one of the prominent archaeological sites in the Kingdom and the Arabian Peninsula, located ninety-five km from al-Jubayl. Known as the "Treasure of Antiquities" due to the discovery of golden artifacts over two thousand years old, a team of Saudi archaeologists found a gold mask, pieces of jewelry, gold coverings, and other valuable items in one of the burial sites in Thaj City in 1998.

Ain Jawan

It is an archaeological site where evidence of settlement was found, dating from the fifth century BCE to the sixth century CE. The National Museum in Riyadh houses a collection of artifacts discovered in Ain Jawan, located in al-Qatif in the northwestern corner of Tarout Bay, north of al-Qatif City. The total area of the site is estimated to be around two km.

Tarout Castle

It is located in the center of Tarout Island in al-Qatif Governorate and was built on a site where artifacts from the Ubaid II period (4000–4300 BCE) were discovered. Additionally, artifacts from the Barbar period, dating back to the Dilmun civilization (third millennium BCE), were also found at this site. The current fortress is believed to be one of the fortresses of al-Uyunid State (1076–1233) and was built over older structures from previous historical periods.

Antiquities of Darin

Darin Island in al-Qatif Governorate houses several archaeological sites, including Darin Castle, also known as the Palace of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Abdulwahab al-Fihani, a pearl merchant who rebuilt the fort in 1886. Beneath the palace, there are artifacts dating back to the BCE, in addition to the Darin excavation, which includes a collection of residential and commercial architectural units.

Yabrin Antiquities

Located on the outskirts of ar-Rub' al-Khali (Empty Quarter), south of al-Ahsa Governorate, Yabrin contains evidence from various prehistoric periods: the Old, Middle, and Late Stone Ages. The site was archaeologically surveyed in 1975, revealing sixty-two archaeological sites with evidence of settlement from the first, second, and third millennia BCE.

Ar-Rakah

It is an archaeological site in the Eastern Province, consisting of a small settlement on the eastern coast that includes wells and architectural units with a collection of stone-built rooms. Each unit contains one or more Madbasa, used for extracting molasses from dates. The artifacts found at the site varied, including diverse pottery, glazed items, medical tools, glassware, soapstone fragments, as well as a collection of marine remains.
