The Ministry of Transport and Logistic Services in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has been working to expand a road network that connects different parts of the Kingdom. This included several Aqabat or mountain roads in the mountainous regions, especially on the roads that link the western and southwestern parts of the Kingdom with the rest of the provinces, including:
Aqabat Shaar
It is located in Aseer Province and has a length of 14.2 km. It's on the connecting road between Abha City and Mahayil Aseer Governorate. The implementation of the pass project included constructing eleven tunnels and installing thirty-two bridges.
Aqabat Dala'
The length of the Aqabat is 11.4 km. It is located in Aseer Province, on the Abha - al-Darb road. The project to develop the Aqabat included three tunnels and sixty-seven bridges. It connects Aseer Province with Jazan Province.
Aqabat al-Jawah
It is located on the road connecting Sarat Abidah Governorate and al-Farsha Center in Aseer Province. It has a length of about 23.5 km and includes twenty-two tunnels.
Aqabat Sinan
The length of the Aqabat is 9.5 km. It is located in Aseer Province, on the road connecting the governorates of an-Namas and al-Majaridah in Tihamah.
Aqabat al-Bahah
It is located in al-Bahah Province, with a length of forty-six km, interspersed with twenty-five tunnels and sixty-two bridges. It's on the connecting road between the mountains of al-Bahah and the plains of Tihamah, linking Tihamah with al-Sarat.
Aqabat al-Hada/al-Kur
Located in the Makkah al-Mukarramah Province, the length of the Aqabat is twelve km, on the connecting road between the city of Makkah al-Mukarramah and Taif Governorate.
