Sarat Abidah Governorate (Sarāt ʻAbīdah) is a governorate in Aseer Province in the southwest of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It is a mountainous urban city nestled in the heights of the Sarawat Mountains. It occupies a central position amidst the province's population centers. According to the Saudi Census 2022, the governorate is home to 57,123 residents, placing it seventh in terms of population among the Aseer Province's governorates.

Location

Sarat Abidah Governorate is situated southwest of Aseer Province, about eighty-five km southwest of the city of Abha, the seat of the province’s emirate. It is bordered from the north by the governorates of Tarib, Ahad Rufaydah, and Khamis Mushait; from the west by Ahad Rufaydah; from the east and south by Dhahran Al-Janub Governorate; and from the south by the Jazan Province. It is famous for its Thursday Market and the archaeological village of Al khalaf.

The nearest airport, Abha Airport, located seventy-one km away, serves Sarat Abidah Governorate. It is an international airport with a capacity of approximately 1.1 million passengers per year.

Highway fifteen is the main land access route in the city. It also leads to the governorate and allows travel between the main cities of Saudi Arabia.
