The Industry Pioneers Program is one of the programs launched by the Saudi Arabian Military Industries "SAMI". It aims to attract recent Saudi graduates from engineering colleges, develop their skills, and train them to localize the defense industry sector in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and achieve one of the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.

The Saudi Arabian Military Industries "SAMI" has developed a set of developmental programs and plans to build a national base of competencies in the Kingdom's defense industries, focusing on both human and knowledge-based categories. These plans aim to develop technical and human capabilities to establish a solid and sustainable defense and security sector. Additionally, SAMI seeks to enhance its capabilities in the five main areas: aerospace systems, land systems, naval systems, advanced electronics, and defense systems.

Fields of the Industry Pioneers Program

The Saudi Arabian Military Industries (SAMI) announced the opening of applications for recent graduates in computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, mechanical electronics engineering, and software engineering. The program targets Saudi nationals who graduated in 2021-2022. SAMI set the start date for the Industry Pioneers Program as August 16, 2022, welcoming applications from candidates with a university GPA of no less than three out of four or its equivalent.

Since its establishment in 2017, the company has entered into partnerships with several global companies to launch projects focused on localizing defense and security manufacturing and technology. These initiatives also aim to develop and qualify Saudi talents and familiarize them with the latest technologies and equipment in the defense sector.

The company has also executed strategic acquisitions and established subsidiary companies that contribute to enhancing its capabilities in key defense sectors.

Objectives of the Industry pioneers program

The Industry Pioneers Program contributes to reducing military spending by creating industrial activities and support services such as industrial equipment, communications, and information technology. it also helps generate quality job opportunities within the national economy and aims to localize more than 50 percent of military spending by 2030. The program seeks to expand this localization to include military aviation manufacturing, service systems, and support industries, enhancing self-sufficiency and exporting military products abroad. This will be achieved through direct investments and partnerships with leading companies in the sector, focused on transferring knowledge and technology and localizing expertise in manufacturing, maintenance, and research and development.
