Saudi Arabian Translation Association (SATA) is a Saudi professional association concerned with all aspects of translation and its various fields in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It works under the umbrella of the Literature, Publishing, and Translation Commission affiliated with the Ministry of Culture.

SATA vision and mission

SATA strives to establish an excellent professional ecosystem in the field of translation and to qualify translators based on global scientific standards and practical practices. SATA is also concerned with enhancing the status and role of translation as a significant professional practice and enabling translators to work professionally in the various areas of translation.

SATA objectives

SATA aims to promote translation as a key method of communication between cultures and to support translation specialists in their field of study. It also assists non-specialists by guiding them toward opportunities in translation. Based on this principle, it works to establish standards of quality, accreditation, arbitration, and professional classification within the translation industry. Moreover, SATA aims to increase its members by accepting applications from interested individuals, providing various services to its members, and expanding its reach by building partnerships with national and international organizations. Furthermore, SATA prioritizes the development of human capabilities, promotes the use of technology in various translation areas, and offers consultations, certifications, and awards to talented individuals in the field of translation.

SATA special events

SATA provides a wide range of activities that support translation in several domains. One of these activities is the 'Translation Salon' event, a series of interactive evenings that gathers specialties and those interested in discussing different topics related to translation. Topics discussed in such events include the literary agent and the translator, the translation market, translation technologies, interpretation, specialized translation, translation and publishing: the path to your first publication, translation and freelancing, and 'Translation as a Major: What's Next After Graduation?', as well as several evening events across different provinces in the Kingdom.
