The Elephant Rock, also known as the Elephant Mountain or Rocky Elephant, is located twenty km north of al-Ula Governorate in al-Madinah al-Munawwarah Province. It is one of al-Ula's geological landmarks. Soaring around fifty m, it is surrounded by many mountains and desert sand deposits.
The Elephant Rock is formed of red sandstone that was shaped into an elephant over years of erosion, thus its name.
The Elephant Rock is part of the developmental works undertaken by the Royal Commission for alUla. These works encompass a wide array of initiatives in the archaeology, tourism, culture, education, and art fields. They also feature holding free exploration trips for visitors of all ages upon the site's rehabilitation and its equipment with comfortable seating areas.
