The Game of Dananah or Danan, also called 'Dahroujah,' 'al-Ajlah,' and 'al-Jant,' is one of the traditional games prevalent in most provinces of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It is usually played during the day, using available tools to simply simulate a car.

Tools for the game of Dananah

The game relies on the availability of a car wheel or a bicycle rim, along with a long piece of wood with a bent metal piece fixed at its head. An empty metal can also be used, and a metal rod can replace the wooden one with its end curved. The piece used as the steering wheel is called the 'seekh,' and fresh palm fronds can also be used.

How to play the game of Dananah

The game is played by assembling the Dananah in the usual way and then running with it in designated or free tracks. The child can steer and control it to move right or left. Competitions are also held among children, and the one who reaches the finish line first is crowned the winner.

This game showcases the player's skill in maneuvering their wheel and maintaining its balance, even in rough or narrow areas. Each child is keen to make their own Dananah, take care of it, and decorate it with whatever is available. If there is only one Dananah, children can take turns playing with it.
