Saudi Stamps are postage stamps issued by Saudi Post (SPL) in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to highlight significant milestones and events in the Kingdom's history, including cultural, artistic, and sports events, as well as important religious, national, and international occasions. SPL issues both regular and commemorative stamps, with each stamp narrating a notable event in the history of the Kingdom.
Notable Saudi stamps
Among the notable commemorative stamps is the Hejaz and Najd stamp, issued in 1930, which is considered the first commemorative stamp issued before the unification of the Kingdom. This stamp commemorates the royal accession and was printed in both Arabic and French. Another notable stamp marks the pledge of allegiance to Crown Prince Saud Bin Abdulaziz, issued in 1934 bearing the name of the Kingdom.
In 1950, SPL issued a set of special stamps to mark the fifteenth anniversary of the entry into Riyadh. This stamp features a drawing of a frame surrounding the old walls of Riyadh, with the name of the Kingdom inscribed in both Arabic and French.
There are also notable stamps issued for religious occasions, such as Hajj and the Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha holidays. There is also a notable stamp that commemorates the Hajj season during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, titled "Muslims health and safety is our priority."
Saudi stamps commemorating occasions
SPL has issued stamps to document sports and national events, such as the Falconry Festival and Horse Racing, as well as stamps that highlight important flowers in the Kingdom. Furthermore, it issued a stamp to commemorate the Kingdom's hosting of the G20 Summit in 2020 in the capital, Riyadh, another to mark the fifteenth anniversary of the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), a stamp celebrating the seventy-fifth anniversary of Saudia, and another for the seventy-fifth anniversary of the Arab League's establishment.
