Establishment of Etihad Atheeb Telecommunication Company

Etihad Atheeb Telecommunication Company obtained a license from the Communications and Information Technology Commission (currently known as the Communications, Space, and Technology Commission) on May 19, 2007. This license was for establishing a landline service network in the Kingdom, which includes providing broadband internet service and an international communication station. Etihad Atheeb Telecommunication Company also obtained the 3.5 GHz frequency spectrum with extensive coverage that includes thirteen provinces across the Kingdom at the cost of SAR522.9 million. Additionally, it obtained a license to provide new landline services, which cost it about SAR5 million.

Etihad is a partnership established with a capital of SAR1 bn. It comprises several entities: Atheeb Trading Company, Saudi Internet Limited Company, Atheeb Computer and Communications Limited Company, Atheeb Maintenance and Services Limited Company, al-Nahla Trading and Contracting Company, Batelco Bahrain, and Traco Company.

It provides landline and wireless services, such as voice communications using phones, data services, high-speed internet (broadband), Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) services, and international communication stations. These services are delivered through WiMax, landlines, and optical fiber cables to all customers, whether individuals, households, or companies.
