Al-Kaaba's Multazam is a part of al-Kaaba al-Musharrafa and a landmark of the Grand Mosque in Makkah al-Mukarramah. it is located on the eastern wall situated between the Black Stone set into the corner and the door of al-Kaaba. Some say it refers to the entire length of the east wall of al-Kaaba. It's a place where people cling to make supplications between the Black Stone and the door of al-Kaaba al-Musharrafa.

Designation of al-Kaaba's Multazam

The term Multazam is a linguistic derivation from the Arabic verb Iltazam, meaning to cling. It is a place for making supplications to Allah. At the Multazam, Muslims come to this spot and press their chest against this area of al-Kaaba, placing their arms, faces, and palms against it, demonstrating their profound humility, earnestness, and need for their Lord. It was mentioned in several narrations of the companions, may Allah be pleased with them. Ibn Abbas said: This Multazam is between the corner and the door.

Worship at al-Kaaba's Multazam

Muslims spread their hands on al-Kaaba al-Musharrafa at the Multazam, and they rest their cheeks and press their chests against its wall. It was narrated by Ahmad and Abu Dawood on behalf of Abdulrahman Bin Safwan, may Allah be pleased with him, who said: When the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) conquered Makkah, I said: I shall put on my clothes, and my house lay on the way, I shall watch how the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) behaves. So I went out. I saw that the Prophet (PBUH) and his Companions had come out from al-Kaaba and embraced the House (al-Kaaba) from its entrance (al-Bab) to al-Hatim. They placed their cheek on the House, while the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) was amongst them.

Washing al-Kaaba al-Musharrafa

Historically, al-Kaaba al-Musharrafa used to be washed several times a year, then twice, until it came to be washed once a year. The Founding King, Abdulaziz Bin Abdulrahman Al Saud, took great care of the Two Holy Mosques. During the washing ceremony, he ensured he was accompanied by his sons to share this immense honor. His sons, who became the kings of the Kingdom, continued this practice. The washing process utilizes the finest cleaning and disinfectant products, Zamzam water, and pure rose water, using designated brass tools and containers.
