Health Volunteering Platform is a Saudi digital platform for registering volunteers. It is supervised by the Health Volunteering Center at the Ministry of Health, which was established in 2019. It connects sectors that have volunteering opportunities in the health sector with individuals interested in volunteering in the health field. Volunteers are awarded a volunteering certificate from the center.

Individuals included in health volunteering

Health volunteering includes volunteers from various medical specialties, categorized as health volunteers. It also includes some general supporting specialties as general volunteers. In order for volunteers to be accepted permanently, they must complete the training program requirements conducted by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties through the digital learning portal for community volunteering.

Specialties on the Health Volunteering Platform

Specialties of health volunteers on the platform include medicine in its different specialties, dentistry, pharmacists, interns, specialists, technicians, and students of health colleges. Volunteers in these categories work in providing remote medical consultations and health work in isolation and quarantine areas, hospitals, medical centers, home kidney dialysis, as well as critical care health work. Certain health work requires completing training courses in the respective specialty.

The specialties of the general volunteer include: technicians, engineers, high school students, media professionals, journalists, translators, and language specialists, in addition to jurists, science specialists, management specialists, public relations specialists, and university students. These volunteers work in training, evaluation, follow-up, field surveys, medical studies and research, administrative and office work and tasks, communications and information technology, media and public relations, and logistical support for workers, patients, and medical staff.

Health Volunteering Platform activities

The Health Volunteering Center supervises all the tasks of the platform, including registration of the volunteers and entities, while the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties supervises and follows up the e-learning portal and the training program.

The Saudi Commission for Health Specialities offers three training programs for volunteers on the platform, and the programs are determined based on volunteering categories. They are: Critical Care Volunteering Program, which is specifically designed for doctors and nurses who have completed their internship or higher; the Community Volunteering Program, which is open to all volunteers, and the Emergency and Hospital Volunteering Program, which covers various healthcare specialties.

Upon the volunteers' arrival at the entity where they are to serve, they will undergo practical training covering safety protocols, work procedures, proper utilization of personal protective gear, and a clear explanation of their assigned tasks and responsibilities.
