Farasan Island, the largest Saudi island in the Red Sea, is one of Farasan Archipelago islands, and is situated within Jazan Province's administrative borders southwest of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Farasan Island is located 50 km to the west of Jazan City and has a total area of about 380 km.
Within its administrative borders, Jazan Province is home to two hundred islands, ninety of which belong to the Farasan Archipelago. It is rich in natural and archaeological resources, and is characterized by its environmental diversity and the density of its vegetation cover, some of which are within protected areas in Saudi Arabia. Moreover, it includes pearl fisheries, archaeological sites, such as Qatar Valley and al-Qessar village, as well as buildings like House Rifai and Najdi Mosque which reflect the traditional Persian architecture.
Visitors of the Farasan Islands can engage in tourist activities, such as swimming and camping, making them one of the main tourist destinations in the Kingdom.
