The Patient Experience Excellence Award is an annual award organized by the Ministry of Health in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with the aim of motivating healthcare providers in the Saudi healthcare sector, providing leading models to enhance the sector, celebrate outstanding practices, foster a culture of compassion, and improve healthcare services through achieving a culture of partnership with beneficiaries, as well as enhancing the concept of human-centered health care in line with Saudi Vision 2030. It targets individuals and entities excelling in improving the patient experience within the public and private sectors.

Establishment and tracks

The Ministry of Health launched the first edition of the Patient Experience Excellence Award in November 2019, while the fourth edition of the award was organized for 2022, from March 8 to April 13, 2023. The number of awards is fifteen, distributed across four tracks: Individual Track, Facilities Track, Other Sectors Track, and the Highest Rated Track in the Patient Experience Measurement Program.

The first track includes general managers, chief executive officers, patient experience managers, and healthcare professionals. The facilities track encompasses the ministry, health directorates, health clusters, primary healthcare centers, and specialized centers. The other sectors track includes the private healthcare sector, other healthcare sectors, associations, and institutions. The last track includes emergency departments, inpatient departments, primary care centers, and outpatient clinics.
