His Excellency Waleed Bin Abdulkarim al-Khereiji is a Saudi engineer, currently serving as the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia since July 15, 2020. He previously held the position of Minister of Agriculture (currently known as Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture).

Academic qualifications

Waleed Bin Abdulkarim al-Khereiji obtained his Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Miami in Florida, USA.

Positions and memberships

During his career, Waleed Bin Abdulkarim al-Khereiji held several positions before being appointed as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs with the rank of minister under a Royal Order. He was appointed as the Minister of Agriculture on December 8, 2014. Before that, he served as the Director General of the General Organization for Grains Silos and Flour Mills (currently known as the General Food Security Authority). He also chaired the International Grains Council for the 2014/2015 term.

He was appointed as the ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to Turkey and previously served as the ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to the Netherlands and the Kingdom's permanent representative to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons. He also held the position of Director General of Agriculture and Water in Makkah al-Mukarramah Province and was a member of the Jeddah Governorate Council. Additionally, he served as the Kingdom's Executive Director at the Food and Agriculture Organization and the World Food Program, chaired the Permanent Committee for Agricultural Research and Guidance in Makkah al-Mukarramah Province, and was the Deputy Chairman of the Economic Development Committee in Makkah al-Mukarramah Province Council.

He led the Kingdom's delegation to the Conferences of the States Parties to the Chemical Weapons Convention from the eighth to the eleventh sessions, held annually under the supervision of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons in The Hague. He was also the head of the Kingdom's delegation in the consultations for the fourth replenishment of the resources of the International Fund for Agricultural Development and served as its representative to the International Criminal Court.

Waleed Bin Abdulkarim al-Khereiji has served on several boards of directors, including the Board of Directors of the Saudi Agricultural and Livestock Investment Company (SALIC). He was also a member of the preparatory committee in the Ministerial Supply Committee.
