The Garage Project is a joint collaboration between the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST), and The Saudi Federation for Cybersecurity, Programming, and Drones. The project strives to achieve growth and sustainability for entrepreneurial companies, and it seeks to become an inspiration and incubator for projects and ideas.
Naming of the Garage Project
The project's name is inspired from the humble origin stories of the world’s top tech companies like Apple, Google, Amazon, Microsoft, and other companies that launched their businesses from the inside of a garage and turned into influential global companies on the technical, economic, and social levels.
Services of the Garage Project
The project offers several services, including: searching and connecting with funding and investment sources, providing tools and technologies, events and communication, investing in incubated companies, consultation and guidance, training and development, and providing laboratories.
The project helps entrepreneurs establish their technology companies by combining business incubators and accelerators with modern workspaces that include integrated services. Moreover, the Garage provides all services to pioneering projects, especially those known as deep technologies. Each financial grant in the project amounts to about SAR100,000 for each eligible company, and the investment for some startup companies can reach more than SAR500,000.
Stages of the Garage Project
The Garage Project goes through several stages, starting with evaluating and selecting projects. This is followed by the incubation stage, during which a range of services are provided, such as training, as well as administrative, substantive, and technical support, etc. Emphasis is placed on emerging technology projects, such as the Fourth Industrial Revolution, digital technologies, and others.
