It is a communications operator and integrated digital service provider covering communications, fifth-generation (5G) network, digital payments, cloud computing, Internet of Things solutions, fiber optic services, drones, and more.

It was listed on the 'Saudi Tadawul' on March 22, 2008. Its shares are traded on the main market within the telecommunications sector under the trading name Zain KSA, symbol (7030), and ISIN (SA121053DR18). Its capital amounts to SAR8.98 billion.

Establishment of the Saudi Mobile Telecommunication Company

It was established by the esteemed Council of Ministers Resolution No. 175 dated June 11, 2007, which approved the issuance of a license to the company to establish and operate a mobile telecommunications network with second and third-generation infrastructure in the Kingdom. The company was registered under commercial registration number (1010246192) on March 12, 2008.

"Zain KSA" launched the 4G/LTE network commercially in September 2011. In October 2019, it launched its fifth-generation (5G) network, covering twenty-eight cities in the first phase with 2,600 towers. In the second phase, fifty-three cities were covered with over five thousand towers. This positioned it as the fourth globally in deploying fifth-generation (5G) networks.

The main activity of Saudi Mobile Telecommunication Company is primarily to provide all mobile communication services in the Kingdom, after obtaining the necessary licenses from the Communications, Space, and Technology Commission. This includes the construction, ownership, maintenance, operation, management, and development of telecommunications networks, information technology, and their facilities on commercial bases in the Kingdom. The company has entered into a management agreement with the Zain Group, under which the group provides administrative, technical, and operational services to the company, including key management personnel.
