An-Nabhaniyyah Governorate is one of the governorates of Qassim Province, in the center of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the sixth largest population center in the province. It is inhabited by 46,558 people, according to the 2022 Saudi Census.
The governorate is located west of Qassim Province, 126 km southwest of Buraydah, the headquarters of the province's emirate. It is bordered to the north by Uqlat as-Suqur and Buraydah governorates, to the east by Riyadh al-Khabra Governorate, to the south by Diryah, and to the west by al-Madinah al-Munawwarah Province.
Centers of an-Nabhaniyyah Governorate
An-Nabhaniyyah Governorate is classified as a category (B) governorate, and includes about thirty-two centers. The Rural Services Complex was established in an-Nabhaniyyah Governorate in 1978. It continued to serve the governorate and its affiliated villages until a supreme order was issued to elevate it to a category (D) municipality in 2004, due to the large number of villages served by the municipality, exceeding (127) centers and towns.
Accessing an-Nabhaniyyah Governorate
Residents and visitors of an-Nabhaniyyah Governorate use Prince Naif Bin Abdulaziz Airport in Buraydah, which is the closest international airport to the governorate. It is located one hundred km away, and its capacity reaches about 550,000 passengers annually. The governorate is crossed by Highway Sixty, which starts from Yanbu in the west of the Kingdom and ends in al-Jubayl in the Eastern Province. It is the main land transportation hub for access and transportation to and from an-Nabhaniyyah.
Rock inscriptions and drawings in an-Nabhaniyyah Governorate
Islamic inscriptions and writings dating back to various Islamic eras are abundant in Qassim Province, as it is located on caravan and pilgrimage routes taken by people coming from the east. One notable site is Jabal Kuayfer in an-Nabhaniyyah Governorate, which features two distinct Islamic inscriptions in Kufic script that are clearly legible.
Among the historical inscriptions in an-Nabhaniyyah Governorate is the inscription of Sheikh Qarnas. It is a rare engraving chronicling the history of the First Saudi State. A rock facade is located near the inscription, with a stone carving of various signs and symbols. Moreover, a rock drawing of ibexes and ostriches was also discovered in al-Saleel Park in an-Nabhaniyyah Governorate.
