What is the Kingdom's Vision for Reducing Carbon Emissions?
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's vision for reducing carbon emissions is to reduce carbon emissions by 2030. The Kingdom is committed to generating 50 percent of its electricity from renewable sources by 2030 through a series of ambitious programs and projects aimed at reducing emissions. These programs include investing in new energy sources, enhancing energy efficiency, and upgrading carbon capture and storage programs.
The Kingdom has launched seventy-seven environmental and clean energy initiatives to support its achievement of three objectives of the Saudi Green Initiative, namely: the reduction of carbon emissions, afforestation of the Kingdom, and protection of land and marine areas. Through this initiative, the Kingdom seeks to build a more sustainable future for all, while taking practical steps to support its commitment to sustainable development.
