Al-Qara Governorate is one of the governorates of al-Bahah Province, southwest of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It is the fourth smallest governorate in terms of population, with only 5.8 percent of al-Bahah Province's population, estimated at 19,586 persons according to the 2022 Saudi Census, residing there.
Location of al-Qara Governorate
Al-Qara Governorate is located around thirty-one km north of the city of al-Bahah, the seat of the emirate. It is bordered by Makkah al-Mukarramah Province to the north, al-Aqiq Governorate to the east, al-Bahah to the south, and al-Mandaq Governorate to the west.
Accessing al-Qara Governorate
Residents and visitors of the al-Qara Governorate use the closest airport, King Saud Bin Abdulaziz Airport in al-Bahah, located sixty-seven km away. It is a local airport with a capacity of around 250 thousand passengers a year. Highway fifteen connects al-Qara Governorate to the main cities in the Kingdom. It is the center of land transportation to access and travel to and from al-Qara.
