Qassim University is a public university located in Buraydah in Qassim Province within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It was established in 2003 after the decision to merge Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud Islamic University and King Saud University. It is one of eight universities established during the reign of King Fahd Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, with a total of thirty-eight faculties distributed across twelve governorates in Qassim.
Faculties of Qassim University
Upon its establishment, Qassim University began its journey with seven faculties affiliated with the Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud Islamic University and King Saud University in the region. Qassim University welcomes students from eighty countries, with 55,717 male and female students, in addition to 3,537 faculty members, according to the statistics of the 2021-2022 academic year.
Its different faculties are distributed across the governorates of Qassim Province: fifteen faculties are located in its headquarters, four are distributed in Buraydah neighborhoods, five in Unaizah Governorate, four in ar-Rass Governorate, two in Al-Bukayriyyah Governorate, and eight distributed in Riyadh Al Khabra, Uqlat as-Suqur, Asyah, Dariyyah, Uyun al-Jiwa, an-Nabhaniyyah, al-Midhnab, and al-Badai' governorates.
Scientific research at Qassim University
Scientific research is one of the major topics of interests for Qassim University. The latter has developed multiple goals, strategies and projects, in addition to launching the Research Projects Grant supervised by the Scientific Research Deanship.
The university publishes several journals, namely: the Shariaa Sciences, Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences, Administrative and Economic Sciences, Engineering and Computing Sciences, Arab Humanities, Natural and Mathematic Sciences, and the Health Sciences journals.
Qassim University has signed memorandums of understanding with sixteen global universities, most notably the Shenzhen, Stanford, Michigan, Durham, and Beijing universities.
