Taibah University is a Saudi public university established in 2003 and one of the eight universities established during the reign of King Fahd Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. These universities include, King Khalid University 1998,2- Qassim University 2003, Taif University 2004, Hail University 2005, Jazan University 2005, Jouf University 2005, King Saud Bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences 2005.
The main headquarters of Taibah University is located in al-Madinah al-Munawwarah, Saudi Arabia. It has six branches distributed among the governorates of al-Madinah al-Munawwarah, which include Yanbu, al-Ula, al-Hinakiyah, Khaybar, al-Mahd, and Badr.
The university has witnessed a significant increase in the students' number from 7,761 male and female students in the academic year 2003-2004 to 68,168 students in the academic year 2020.
Taibah University began with seven colleges in its first year, and after ten years, the number of colleges increased to twenty-eight colleges and one institute. Sixteen of these colleges are located at the main headquarters, while the remaining colleges are distributed among its six branches in Yanbu, al-Ula, al-Hinakiyah, Khaybar, al-Mahd, and Badr.
Its colleges encompass a variety of disciplines, including health, applied sciences, engineering, and humanities. The number of academic programs reaches eighty-nine, comprising six associate degree programs, forty-seven bachelor's degree programs, and thirty-six at the postgraduate level.
On December 1, 2007, King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz issued approval for the establishment of twenty-nine colleges across various universities, including four colleges at Taibah University. These four colleges are the College of Computer Science and Engineering in Yanbu Governorate, the College of Engineering in Yanbu Governorate, the Community College in al-Mahd Governorate, and the Community College in al-Ula Governorate.

The university awards seven academic degrees, including Associate, Bachelor's, General Diploma, Higher Diploma, Master's, and Ph.D. The university includes 1409 faculty members, in addition to 1606 others, including teaching assistants, lecturers, and language instructors.
Online services at Taibah University
The university provides its staff with various online services, e.g., the Service-Tech platform, as a link between university staff and service providers, eliminating the need for paper transactions. It also enables students and staff to communicate with all university sectors, including the presidency, vice presidencies, deanships, colleges, institutes, centers, committees, and departments through the Tawasul Portal.
The university comprises seven agencies, including the University, Educational Affairs, Development and Quality, Student Affairs, Branches, Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, and Intellectual Innovation.
Taibah University agreements with international universities
The university has agreements with nine international universities, including the University of Manchester, George Washington University, Pennsylvania State University, the British Academy for Higher Education, the University of Pittsburgh, British Columbia University, the Malaysia University of Technology, the International Islamic University Malaysia, and the Chonnam National University of South Africa, for student exchange, faculty members training, curriculum sharing, and other benefits that contribute to the development of the university.
The university prioritizes student activities, as the number of clubs has reached 172 clubs in various fields, and the number of beneficiaries reached 51,031 students, with more than 2,207 events.
Academic and programmatic accreditations at Taibah University
Taibah University achieved full and unconditional institutional academic accreditation from the National Commission for Academic Accreditation and Assessment in February 2019, following the implementation of quality systems and institutional academic accreditation standards for seven years.
In 2022, Taibah University obtained five programmatic academic accreditations from the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) for undergraduate programs in the university's colleges. These accreditations covered undergraduate programs in the university's colleges, including civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and industrial engineering at the College of Engineering and the computer engineering program at the College of Computer Science and Engineering.
Accomplishments and progress of leading centers at Taibah University
In 2021, the Department of Communication and Media at the College of Arts and Humanities at Taibah University achieved first place as the top community initiative at the Third Media Student Forum for the College of Communication at Al Qasimia University in the United Arab Emirates. The forum, held under the theme "Digital Media and Social Responsibility," carried the slogan "We are all responsible" with the participation of eighteen universities from thirteen Arab and Islamic countries.
