King Khalid Military College is a college that specializes in training and graduating officers for the Ministry of the National Guard in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It offers a bachelor's program in military sciences, along with an intensive training program to qualify officers. The college was officially inaugurated under the patronage of King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, who was then the crown prince, representing King Fahd Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

History of King Khalid Military College

King Khalid Military College was established to complete the process of training and graduating officers for the national guard. It commenced with the inauguration of the candidates' wing in 1965, subsequently followed by the establishment of the military school for graduating officers in 1973.

The first batch graduated from the college in 1985 under the patronage of King Fahd Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. In 1986, the first batch graduated from the university officers’ qualification course under the sponsorship of King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, who was then crown prince.

Studying at King Khalid Military College

The curricula at King Khalid Military College are divided into two main parts: military and civil. The military curriculum encompasses core military and supporting subjects, while the civil curriculum comprises various academic disciplines, along with Islamic studies and computer science. The duration of study at the college spans three years, spread across six semesters, each lasting fourteen to sixteen weeks, with a total of 132 approved study hours. Students are then qualified for a bachelor’s degree in military sciences, and college graduates are commissioned as lieutenants. Additionally, the university officer qualification course extends over twenty-nine weeks, focusing intensively on twenty-three military subjects. The graduates then receive a certificate acknowledging course accomplishment.

Main tasks of King Khalid Military College

As per the stipulations of the Law of Military Academies, the main tasks of King Khalid Military College include educating and training students to acquire the qualities qualifying them to be officers in the national guard. Additionally, the college undertakes various other tasks utilizing its capabilities and programs, the most significant of which include: Conducting training courses for university officers in the national guard, contributing to raising the level of leadership competencies through specialized courses and scientific military seminars, contributing to the service of scientific research in the military field, and participating in community service through national events throughout the year.

Students enrolled at King Khalid Military College receive various perks. They receive a stipend equal to half of a lieutenant’s salary and have their study expenses covered by the college, including books, references, bulletins, and training manuals. Additionally, the college provides suitable housing, necessary living amenities, military uniforms, and sports attire. Medical treatment and care expenses at the primary care clinic on campus, are also covered, along with transportation as required for assigned tasks.
