King Abdulaziz Center for National Dialogue is a Saudi government center founded on July 24, 2003, to promote the culture of dialogue and respect for differences of opinion. Additionally, it contributes to shaping the correct Islamic discourse, providing the appropriate environment for spreading the culture of dialogue within society, and developing strategic visions for national dialogue topics.
Establishment of the Youth Program Department
On December 7, 2004, the King Abdulaziz Center for National Dialogue established the Youth Program Department, represented by a voluntary youth committee that includes young men and women aged sixteen to thirty years old. The Department's role is to support and promote a culture of dialogue among youth, activate their participation in the center's activities, and represent the Saudi youth in international forums. Youth programs include Dialogue Cafe, Tamkeen Youth Dialogues, Safeer Program, Youth Forums, Jusoor Project, and Bayader's Volunteer Effort.
Establishment of Dialogue Academy for Training
In 2008, the King Abdulaziz Center for National Dialogue gave training to spread the culture of dialogue. The Academy offers several specialized training programs and projects in line with the center's role and objectives in promoting the concept of dialogue among all segments of society. The key academic training tracks include developing communication skills in dialogue, dialogue with children, educational dialogue, family dialogue, intellectual dialogue, dialogue for peace, and sports dialogue.
Departments of King Abdulaziz Center for National Dialogue
King Abdulaziz Center for National Dialogue has a board of trustees whose chairman and members are appointed by a royal decree.
The headquarters of the center is located on the Northern Ring Road in Riyadh. The Board of Trustees oversees several general departments that manage the center's activities, including the Studies and Research Department, Strategic Planning and Performance Department, Investment Department, and Media and Communication Department.
Launching the National Dialogue Award
On April 8, 2021, the King Abdulaziz Center for National Dialogue launched the National Dialogue Award as one of its national initiatives to highlight and promote the values of tolerance, coexistence, and solidarity to achieve the aspirations of the Saudi Vision 2030 in building a vibrant and prosperous society. The award includes four categories. The first category is for government entities that have contributed significantly to promoting the values of tolerance, coexistence, and national solidarity. The second category is for private sector entities that supported or implemented programs that have had a societal impact on instilling the values of dialogue and tolerance.
The third category is designated for civil society entities, while the award in its fourth category is granted for outstanding and innovative initiatives carried out by inspiring citizens who have actively contributed to promoting the culture of dialogue, respect for differences, and diversity.
