Film al-Ula is a film agency responsible for supporting and promoting local, regional, and international film and television productions in al-Ula Province. It was established by Royal Commission for al-Ula in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 2020. The agency is a member of the Association of Film Commissioners International (AFCI) and follows best practices as laid down by the association, as well as the Royal Commission for al-Ula’s charter of best works practices.
Film al-Ula studios
In 2022, Film al-Ula launched the first phase of construction work to build a studio complex with an area of approximately thirty thousand m. The complex includes two studios built as per international specifications, buildings for production and workshop support, a special effects building (Pyro/Sfx), supply and administrative buildings, and a sound recording studio. The complex has a scenic view thanks to its vast area that shows al-Ula's natural landscape. This area is about twelve thousand km, all of which are outdoor filming locations.
Objectives of Film al-Ula
Film al-Ula aims to nurture and foster cinematic talents, advance the emerging cinema industry in the Kingdom, develop the film sector’s infrastructure, and contribute to the diversification of al-Ula's economy.
Cinematography in al-Ula
Film al-Ula provided statistics on the growing levels of cinema and drama productions that are filmed and documented in al-Ula, where twelve television series, eight documentaries, thirty-eight promotional works, and one feature film were produced. Cinematic works include titles, such as Cherry, Kandahar, Badeel, and Norah.
