
The Zakat, Tax, and Customs (ZTC) Conference is an event organized by the Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority (ZATCA) in Riyadh City in 2023, under the theme “An Integrated Digital System for Sustainable Economy and Improved Security.”
Objectives of ZTC Conference
The conference was attended by commissioners and heads of international tax authorities, local, regional, and international leaders, and experts specializing in tax, zakat, and customs administration. It discussed major global and local developments in the zakat, tax, and customs sector and targeted business sectors, including taxpayers, importers, exporters, individuals interested in zakat, tax, and customs fields, as well as experts, researchers, and specialists in the field from around the world.
Pillars of ZTC Conference
The conference was based on three key pillars: Technology, prosperity, and security, aiming to establish a comprehensive digital ecosystem for economic sustainability and security enhancement in alignment with Saudi Vision 2030. This initiative seeks to improve quality of life, develop all sectors, digitize services, ensure national security, and promote financial and economic sustainability.
Activities of ZTC Conference
On the first day of the conference, several sessions were held, including “An Investment-Friendly Logistics Environment: Transparency and Efficiency,” “Prosperity Through a Safe and Efficient Transport System,” “Customs Role Between Security and Trade Facilitation,” “Zakat as a Form of Social Solidarity and its Contributions to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.” “Taxpayer Awareness: An Essential Tool for Voluntary Compliance,” and “Integration of Customs and Tax Operations: Benefits and Challenges.”
The second day witnessed many sessions including “Trends and Challenges in Transfer Pricing,” “Authorized Economic Operator as a Supply Chain Tool,” and “Tax Incentives: The End or the Beginning.” Several research papers were also presented, including topics on “E-Invoicing” and “Clearance within Two Hours.”
Workshops at ZTC Conference
The conference featured multiple workshops, including “Clearance Within Two-Hours Initiative” and a presentation on “E-Invoicing,” along with a specialized workshop on “Duty-Free Markets.”
Participants also discussed topics such as “Value-Added Tax (VAT) Refund Mechanism”, “Zakat for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs),” “Zakat Calculation for Presumptive Taxpayers,” “Import Journey,” “Cross-Border E-Commerce,” “Saber Platform,” “VAT,” “Double Taxation Avoidance Agreements,” “Zakat Treatment of Taxpayers' Debts,” “Transfer Pricing,” “Zakat and Customs Tax Objections Mechanisms,” “Electronic Services in ZATCA,” and “Fasah Platform.”
