The Glass Bowl is a circular glass vessel discovered at Qaryat al-Faw Archaeological Site, an ancient civilization in the Arabian Peninsula. The site is located in the southeastern part of Wadi ad-Dawasir Governorate in Riyadh Province, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The bowl dates back to the third century BCE and was used as tableware.

Specifications and dimensions of the glass bowl

It features a rim that extends vertically along the body’s walls and a circular base. The exterior surface is adorned with vertical ribs arranged in a sequential horizontal pattern. The surface also features blue decorations with wavy, sequential horizontal lines covering the ribs, followed by horizontal lines encircling the body in a vertical sequence and a white outer edge on the rim. The bowl is 6.5 cm high and has an opening diameter of nine cm.

The discovery of the bowl is part of the archaeological survey and excavation efforts conducted by the antiquities and museums sector in Saudi Arabia over the past years. It is among the discoveries made by Saudi archaeologists, scientific expeditions, and joint research teams.

The glass bowl is registered under number 2243 and is preserved at the National Museum in Riyadh. It is among the selected artifacts featured in the Saudi Archaeological Masterpieces Through the Ages exhibition during its international tours.
