The Stone Seal from the Dilmun Civilization is an archaeological stone seal, carved and used for identification, featuring intaglio-carved designs. It was discovered in the Eastern Province of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The discovery of the stone seal is part of the findings from archaeological surveys and excavations conducted by the antiquities and museums sector in Saudi Arabia over the years, as well as the discoveries of Saudi archaeologists and scientific expeditions.

History of the seal

The stone seal dates back to the period between 2400 and 1700 BCE, during the era of the Dilmun civilization. It is registered under number Q2 and is preserved in the Dammam Museum.

Significance of the seal

The presence of this type of seal indicates forms of communication and connections between the civilization of eastern Arabia and the Indus Valley civilization, one of the most prominent civilizations in the northwestern region of South Asia. The craftsmanship of stone seals, featuring simple animal carvings, reflects the advanced level achieved by the Arabian Peninsula's civilization during that period.

In 2010, the stone seal was selected, along with other artifacts from archaeological discoveries in Saudi Arabia, to be part of the Saudi Archeological Masterpieces Through the Ages Exhibition. The exhibition embarked on a journey across museums and galleries worldwide, including venues in Asia, Europe, and America, starting at the Louvre Museum in Paris, France.
