
The Arabian Leopard Fund Foundation is a private, non-profit environmental organization established to address the risk of Arabian leopard extinction and to organize effective conservation initiatives. It is based in Riyadh, the capital of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and is registered with the National Center for Non-Profit Sector Development under license number (232).
The foundation consists of a Board of Trustees and a Board of Directors. The Board of Trustees includes five members. The foundation operates in partnership with the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), the National Center for Wildlife Conservation, and the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture.
Strategy of the Arabian Leopard Fund
The Arabian Leopard Fund operates on several pillars to preserve the Arabian leopard from extinction. These include coordinating conservation strategies, action plans, and partnerships, activating environmental measures to protect the species, and facilitating the exchange of knowledge and global practices for species conservation.
Programs of the Arabian Leopard Fund
The Arabian Leopard Fund Foundation has implemented various programs and projects, including approving the fund's strategy, launching the regional strategy for the Arabian leopard in collaboration with national, regional, and international entities, and introducing the Durrell Endangered Species Management Graduate Certificate Program (DESMAN), an intensive twelve-week course targeting wildlife conservation specialists. Additionally, the foundation initiated the First Training Program for Arabian Leopard Care Skills, designed to provide practical educational opportunities and enhance the skills of caretakers of Arabian leopards in the region.
Scholarships of the Arabian Leopard Fund Foundation
The Arabian Leopard Fund launched a scholarship program to support studies and research related to the conservation of the Arabian leopard, with grants of up to USD20,000. The program aims to fund projects focused on protecting and preserving the Arabian leopard and its habitats. Additionally, in collaboration with the Royal Commission for al-Ula, the fund will offer fifty scholarships to the sons and daughters of al-Ula in various disciplines and academic degrees to meet the requirements of Arabian leopard conservation and to develop local scientific expertise in this field.
