Al-Jawf Museum is one of the museums in al-Jawf Province, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It was built in 1982, covering an area of eight thousand m², and opened to visitors in 1987. The museum aims to highlight and preserve the cultural and historical heritage of al-Jawf Province. It is overseen by the Museums Commission, one of the commissions under the Ministry of Culture.

Wings and halls of al-Jawf Museum

Al-Jawf Museum features several wings and exhibition halls. The entrance hall includes panels and maps of the province's archaeological sites, a network of museums across Saudi Arabia, photographs, and heritage artifacts. The Prehistoric Wing displays texts and images covering the origins of humankind, the formation of the Earth and its geological layers, the Stone Ages and their tools, as well as notable sites in the province, such as ash-Shuwayhitiyah archaeological site.

Pre-Islamic Era Wing

The Pre-Islamic Era Wing covers the periods starting from the post-Stone Ages up to the end of the pre-Islamic era. It showcases a collection of stone tools, pottery pieces, inscribed panels, rock carvings, and texts and images narrating the pre-Islamic periods and the sites associated with them in al-Jawf Province.

The Islamic Era Wing focuses on the migration of Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him (PBUH), to al-Madinah al-Munawwarah, the era of the Rightly Guided Caliphs, and subsequent Islamic periods. It features a collection of various artifacts, as well as panels with texts, images, and diagrams that date back to those periods.

Unification of Saudi Arabia Wing

The Unification of Saudi Arabia Wing recounts the history of the Saudi state from the beginning of the First Saudi State to the present era. It includes panels, images, and films covering the phases of the Saudi state, along with a collection of heritage artifacts from al-Jawf Province.
