In Saudi culture, some beverages are associated with specific occasions. Some beverages are popular in most regions of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia while others are specific to a particular region and some are associated with a specific season of the year. These beverages include:

Coffee

Coffee is the Kingdom's hospitality drink. It is popular in all regions, with some differences in its method of preparation and ingredients. It is also associated with all occasions, whether happy, such as weddings, engagements, and births, sad, such as funerals, or official and social events. The Ministry of Culture dubbed 2022 as the "Year of Coffee."

Almond coffee

Almond coffee,also known as sweet coffee or white coffee, is a traditional hot drink in the west of the Kingdom. It is an annual tradition for most families at the beginning of the Hijri year in Makkah al-Mukarramah and al-Madinah al-Munawwarah. This is a gesture to welcome the Hijri New Year. It is usually prepared on the first night of the Hijri year or within the night of the first week of Muharram.

Qishr coffee

It is the traditional beverage southwest of the Kingdom. It is prepared by adding coffee husks to hot water, with the possibility of adding some aromatic spices, such as cardamom and cinnamon. It is also known as "sweet coffee." It is a beverage associated with some social occasions.

Al-Murais

It consists of dates and Aqit soaked in water. It is a traditional beverage during the holy month of Ramadan in most regions of the Kingdom, especially in its center.

Sobia

It is one of the beverages associated with special occasions or specific events namely in Jeddah, Makkah al-Mukarramah, and al-Madinah al-Munawwarah. It is made of milled dried barley is usually available in red and white beans.

Tamarind

Tamarind juice or al-Humr juice is a popular beverage, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan, in the west of the Kingdom, in Makkah al-Mukarramah and al-Madinah al-Munawwarah. It is an integral part of family gatherings. It is also served during group Iftar feasts held in Ramadan. It is often enjoyed alongside other traditional Ramadan beverages such as cardamom, cinnamon, dried apricots, colloquially known as Qamar al-Deen, and Sobia, and form beverages consumed during Ramadan.

Al-Jamr tea

Making tea as part of a camping trip in the Kingdom is an integral part of the hiking culture. In fact, al-Jamr tea merchants are usually found near wildlife parks and camping areas during spring and winter.
