The Tawakkalna Application is a government electronic application launched by the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) in collaboration with the Ministry of Health on May 3, 2020. Its purpose is to support governmental efforts aimed at preserving the health and safety of its citizens and residents against the threat of the spread of COVID-19.
Services Offered by Tawakkalna Application
The Tawakkalna Application contributed to managing the process of electronically granting permits during the curfew period, which was imposed to prevent the spread of the virus. This was for both government and private sector employees, as well as individuals, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and several other government entities during the imposed restriction period. This greatly helped in reducing the spread of COVID-19 in the Kingdom. The application included a range of services, among the most prominent were: a service for booking vaccination appointments, viewing curfew violations, requesting supply permits within the neighborhood, exit permits, permits for walking for one hour daily within the neighborhood, emergency medical permits, reporting suspected cases of virus infection, and reporting curfew violations. Additionally, it provided updates on the health situation in the Kingdom.
After the lifting of curfew restrictions and the gradual return to practicing normal life activities with caution, the application introduced a number of new services. These include: the national address service, health passport, digital wallet, digital ID, sharing the health status card, COVID-19 test service, dashboard service, academic status of children, caution status service, review of health status and immunization information, and more.
With the launch of the updated Tawakkalna Services as a renewed version of the Tawakkalna Application, the Tawakkalna system now envisions being the digital companion to facilitate life with three strategic areas of focus: government services, smart city applications, and effective communication technologies. Within the realm of government services, various services were launched in the educational, professional, and health sectors.
The smart city applications aspect incorporated several services. Among the most notable are: the digital wallet, which includes a display of about twenty digital cards, and the dashboard that showcases numerous pieces of information, the most important of which are: driving licenses, vehicle insurance, traffic violations, passport details, appointments, national address, title deeds, power of attorney documents, Qiyas test results, international travel log, commercial registers, and more.
In terms of effective communication technologies, a communication channel was established between government entities and users through the application. This channel is used to send specific alerts, such as notifications of traffic violations and renewals of official documents, and general alerts to users, such as notifications of national events and awareness campaigns.
Color codes in Tawakkalna Application
The Tawakkalna Application uses color-coded symbols to indicate the health status of the user. A dark green color with the word "immunized" indicates the completion of the COVID-19 vaccine dose. Light green is for those who have not been confirmed to be infected, brown represents an infected person, orange is for someone who has been in contact with a confirmed case, blue is for a traveler coming from a country that is not pandemic-stricken, and purple is for those arriving from countries where the pandemic has spread.
During the lockdown, the color codes indicated the roaming permits. Green means that the user is permitted to roam for a defined period, while red indicates that the user is not permitted. Orange, on the other hand, indicates home isolation and self-quarantine.
