Notarial services in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia encompass documenting property ownership transfers, company contracts, the acceptance of residential and agricultural grants, acknowledgment-based powers of attorney, and the creation and release of mortgages. They also handle the revocation or withdrawal of powers of attorney by either the principal or the agent, as well as the establishment and release of guarantees and amicable partitioning agreements among adults.
Notarial offices are divided into first model, second, and mobile categories due to the increasing workload in big cities, with each category assigned specific functions. The first model notarial offices handle matters related to documenting real estate assets, transferring ownership through various means, and finalizing land grant procedures. The second notarial offices, or branches of notarial offices, established in 1976, are responsible for authenticating powers of attorney, wills, non-real estate concessions, guarantees, name amendments, company contract registrations, and signing forms for low-income individuals.
Mobile notarial offices, established in 2017, are responsible for providing notarial services to individuals who are unable to visit notarial offices in person. These individuals include the elderly, patients, people with disabilities, hospital inpatients, residents of care and observation homes, and holders of the Priority Card issued by the Ministry of Health. A notary public visits them at their respective locations.
