Al-Ablaa Center is one of the administrative centers affiliated with Bishah Governorate in Aseer Province, located southwest of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Al-Ablaa Center is situated northeast of Abha City, the capital of Aseer Province, approximately 294 km away via Road Fifteen. It is also about ninety km northwest of Bishah Governorate, accessible via Road 2221.
Features of al-Ablaa Center
Al-Ablaa Center is home to numerous archaeological landmarks and treasures, including the historic site of al-Ablaa. This ancient site is located on a white mountain in the upper part of Wadi Ranyah, administratively under Bishah Governorate. Al-Ablaa dates back to the civilizations of ancient Arab kingdoms. It was known as a marketplace during the pre-Islamic period, serving as one of the ancient mining sites and a thriving economic center with its commercial, agricultural, and pastoral resources.
The historical site of al-Ablaa features several archaeological remnants, including traces of an old marketplace, the foundations of a mosque dating back to the early Islamic period, a large millstone, and several stone grinders and pestles once used for crushing and preparing mineral ores for smelting. Additionally, the site includes three wells carved into the mountain summit for mineral extraction.
