Faydat Athqab Mosque is a historic mosque located in the center of Faydat Athqab Center, southwest of Hail Province in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It is approximately 195 km southwest of Hail City. The mosque is among those targeted in the second phase of Prince Mohammed Bin Salman Project for the Development of Historical Mosques.
History of Faydat Athqab Mosque
The mosque was originally constructed in 1946 by Sheikh Mohsen Bin Shwailah. Fifteen years later, in 1961, it was rebuilt and fully renovated. Afterwards, the mosque underwent several restorations. The mosque holds historical significance as one of the oldest mosques in Faydat Athqab.
Area of Faydat Athqab Mosque
Under the Prince Mohammed Bin Salman Project for the Development of Historical Mosques, several studies, research, and analyses were adopted to guide the restoration of the mosque to its original state using appropriate materials. The mosque's area before development was 403.43 m² and increased to 461.12 m² after restoration. Its capacity also grew to accommodate 199 worshippers after the prayers had been suspended.
The mosque was used for daily prayers and Friday prayers until 1997, when prayers ceased, in the mosque and were relocated to a nearby mosque.
