Al-Hazimi Historical Mosque is a historical mosque situated northeast of the town of Layla, al-Aflaj Governorate, Riyadh Province. It is located three hundred km south of Riyadh City, the capital of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
History of al-Hazimi Historical Mosque
Al-Hazimi Historical Mosque is one of the oldest heritage mosques in the ancient city of Layla. It was built more than one hundred years ago with the cooperation of the town residents during that period.
Back then, the mosque was a cultural and scientific beacon for the residents of the town and neighboring areas. It was also a place of prayer and worship. Sessions and conferences were offered at the mosque, where town residents were taught the Noble Quran and writing.
Area of al-Hazimi Historical Mosque
Al-Hazimi Historical Mosque is undergoing development as part of the second phase of the Prince Mohammed Bin Salman Project for the Development of Historical Mosques. Before development, it covered an area of 355.25 m. The area will increase to 361.2 m. Its capacity of 110 worshipers will remain the same.
