Al-Zubair Bin al-Awwam Mosque is a historical mosque located north of King Abdulaziz Road, west of Najran city, the administrative capital of Najran Province, in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It is at a distance of 150 m from Qasr al-Emara Historical Palace in Najran and one hundred m from the fruits and vegetables market of the city.

History of al-Zubair Bin al-Awwam Mosque

Al-Zubair Bin al-Awwam Mosque is one of the oldest mosques in the province. It was built in 1967, during the time of governor Khalid Bin Ahmed al-Sudairi, as the first mosque in the ancient flea market (al-balad market) in the vicinity of Qasr al-Emara.

The first building of al-Zubair Bin al-Awwam Mosque was made of mud. It was supplemented with a building for ablution (Wudu) that reflects the southern heritage architectural style. The mosque was subject to several renovations, the most recent being in 2008, when the building was supplemented with two restrooms and a prayer area for women.

Area of al-Zubair Bin al-Awwam Mosque

Al-Zubair Bin al-Awwam Mosque is estimated to cover an area of 1,436 m pre- and post-renovation as part of the Prince Mohammed Bin Salman Project for the Development of Historical Mosques. Its pre- and post-renovation capacity will remain one thousand worshipers.
