Al-Ataif Mosque is one of the old mosques of Riyadh City. It is located on the northwestern side of the current al-Maigliah markets. It was of average size, with an area of about 250 m, and it had a secluded chamber. The date of its construction is unknown. Near the mosque, to the south, there used to be a large Sidr tree.
Development of al-Ataif Mosque
The mosque was rebuilt in the 1960s. However, it was later demolished as part of the development phase of the al-Hukm Palace area in 1987. A modern mosque was subsequently constructed as a replacement for it on the southwestern side of the current al-Maigliah markets, built with a traditional design.
