Al-Fuwaihi Mosque is one of the targeted mosques in the Prince Mohammed Bin Salman Project for the Development of Historical Mosques in its second phase. It is located in al-Safa Neighborhood in Sakaka City in al-Jawf Province, specifically in the southwest of Sakaka City on King Fahd Bin Abdulaziz Road.
History of al-Fuwaihi Mosque
Al-Fuwaihi Mosque is one of the oldest mosques in Sakaka City in al-Jawf Province. Its construction dates back to 1960, and it was known as the Shaman Mosque after Shaman Khalf al-Fuwaihi who built it at that time.
The mosque suffered some damage due to a car accident in 2009. However, it was subsequently restored and preserved in its original state. Currently, the mosque is used only for the regular daily prayers.
Imams of al-Fuwaihi Mosque
The mosque has had several imams and muezzins. Among them are Sheikh Aql Shaman Khalaf al-Fuwaihi and Fahd Shaman Khalaf al-Fuwaihi. Some of the most prominent muezzins include Mohammad Nasser al-Shamri and Ahmad Sultan Shaman Khalaf al-Fuwaihi.
Area of al-Fuwaihi Mosque
The mosque is undergoing renovation as part of the Prince Mohammed Bin Salman Project for the Development of Historical Mosques. The renovation follows a series of architectural interventions to make it resemble its original appearance when it was built. Originally, the mosque's area was 72.33 m², and after restoration, it increased to 93.98 m², while its capacity remains the same, accommodating twenty-eight worshipers, before and after the renovation.
