Al-Yamamah magazine is a weekly publication issued from Riyadh in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, founded by Hamad al-Jasser. Its first issue was published in August 1953. Over time, its publication frequency changed, transitioning from a monthly to a weekly release.

Al-Yamamah magazine printing

The first and second issues of al-Yamamah magazine were printed at the Dar al-Kitab al-Arabi press in Egypt, and the subsequent issues up to the eighth issue of the second year were printed in various presses in Makkah al-Mukarramah, Jeddah, and Beirut. The printing of the ninth issue in May 1955 at the Riyadh presses marked a historical precedent, heralding the beginning of the localization of the journalism profession in Riyadh Province. Preceding this event, al-Jasser issued an annex to the eighth issue of the magazine in the form of a tabloid with four pages. This was the first printed newspaper in the history of the Riyadh Province, and it was published on April 19, 1955.

Al-Yamamah magazine history

The magazine stopped publishing after releasing its double tenth and eleventh issues in June and July 1955. Following this, the weekly newspaper al-Yamamah took its place, with its first issue published on Sunday, September 18, 1955. For seven years, Hamad al-Jasser served as its director and editor-in-chief. He managed it from its headquarters on al-Marqab Street in Riyadh. The publishing rights were later transferred from Hamad al-Jasser to Zaid Bin Abdulaziz Bin Fayadh, who continued publishing the newspaper from issue number 318, released on March 25, 1962, until its last issue number 463, on March 2, 1964.

After the implementation of the Journalistic Institutions Law in 1964, its publication resumed as a weekly newspaper under its founder, Hamad al-Jasser, with a new numbering system that started from issue 1 on March 20, 1964, through al-Yamamah Press Institution. After al-Jasser's resignation in March 1966, Mohammad al-Sheddi took over as editor-in-chief, and al-Yamamah transitioned from a general weekly newspaper to a weekly magazine. Its first issue was released on March 3, 1968, and the magazine continues publishing to this day.
