Fund for Martyrs, Wounded, Prisoners of War, and Missing in Action
The Fund for Martyrs, Wounded, Prisoners of War, and Missing in Action is a dedicated entity that provides sustainable and diverse services to ensure a dignified and secure life for the families of martyrs, wounded, prisoners of war, missing in action, and their legal dependents. It also engages in charitable activities, with the rewards and benefits intended for them. It enjoys legal personality and financial and administrative independence, with its main headquarters located in Riyadh, the capital of the Kingdom.
On June 1, 2015, the Council of Ministers issued a decision approving the organization of the Fund for Martyrs, Wounded, Prisoners of War, and Missing in Action. The fund's foundational activities were launched on November 16, 2020.
Beneficiaries of the Fund for Martyrs, Wounded, Prisoners of War, and Missing in Action
The beneficiaries of the fund include: martyrs, the wounded, prisoners of war, and missing in action, as well as the families of martyrs, prisoners, and missing in action.
Martyr: A martyr is a military or civilian individual who died due to war with the enemy, during military exercises, maintaining security, or while saving lives or property in situations of entrapment or fires. This includes military students assigned to similar tasks and any public employee, whether military or civilian, or a Saudi contractor or any member of their family—whether inside or outside the Kingdom—who died as a result of terrorist acts or being targeted with the intent to harm the Kingdom. Anyone from these groups who suffers a disability exceeding 70 percent is considered equivalent to a martyr.
Wounded: A wounded individual is a military or civilian person who sustained a disability of 70 percent or less due to war with the enemy, during military exercises, maintaining security, or while saving lives or property in situations of entrapment or fires. This includes military students assigned to similar tasks, and any public employee, whether military or civilian, or a Saudi contractor or any member of their family—whether inside or outside the Kingdom—who was injured as a result of terrorist acts or being targeted with the intent to harm the Kingdom.
Prisoner of War: A prisoner of war is a military individual who is forcibly detained due to war with the enemy, during military exercises, or while maintaining security, with confirmation of their continued survival. This also includes civilians and military students assigned to similar tasks.
Missing in action: A missing in action is a military individual who disappeared due to war with the enemy, during military exercises, or while maintaining security, and whose life or death remains unknown. This also includes civilians and military students assigned to similar tasks.
Family of the martyr, prisoner, and missing in action: this includes parents, spouses, sons, daughters, and those they are legally responsible for.
