The Emirate al-Jawf Province is one of the emirates of the thirteen regions in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It is organizationally affiliated with the Ministry of Interior. Its responsibilities include coordination and collaboration with government authorities during planning stages to provide all services for citizens and residents.

History of the Emirate of al-Jawf Province

The Emirate of the Province was established after the unification of the Kingdom. It operates from its headquarters in Sakaka, located on Makkah al-Mukarramah Street, about twenty-nine km from al-Jouf International Airport. It uses the visual identity of the Ministry of Interior as its logo. Prince Faisal Bin Nawaf Bin Abdulaziz has been the governor of al-Jawf Province since 2018.

The mandates of the Emirate of al-Jawf Province

The main tasks of the Emirate of al-Jawf Province include maintaining security, overseeing the administration of justice in the area, verifying the efficiency and effectiveness of services provided to the province's citizens, and working to improve and develop those services.

Governorates and Centers of al-Jawf Province

The emirate of the province comprises three governorates. According to the provincial law issued in 1992, amended by a Royal Order in 1993, each emirate consists of several governorates in addition to several centers. These governorates are divided into two categories, (A) and (B). This division considered residential, geographical, and security situations, in addition to transportation routes, environmental conditions, and the historical significance of each governorate.
The province of al-Jawf includes al-Qurayyat as a category (A) governorate and the governorates of Dawmat al-Jandal and Tabarjal as category (B), collectively encompassing about thirty-three centers.

The area and population of al-Jawf Province

According to the Saudi Census 2022, the region's population is about 595,822 people, of which 73.9% are Saudis, 26.1% are non-Saudi, and 236,669 live in the administrative capital Sakaka. Al-Jawf covers 4.3 percent of the Kingdom's land with an area of 85,000 km, and it ranks tenth in population density rates among Saudi regions, with an average rate of about seven people per km.
