The Emirate of al-Bahah Province is one of the thirteen regions in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It administratively falls under the Ministry of Interior, and its responsibilities include coordination and collaboration with governmental entities during planning stages to provide comprehensive services to the citizens and residents.

Establishment and governors of the Emirate of al-Bahah Province

The Emirate of al-Bahah Province was established following the unification of the Kingdom. It operates from its main office in al-Bahah City, King Fahd Road. The emirate uses the visual identity of the Ministry of Interior as its logo.

Each emirate has a prince appointed by a Royal Decree with the rank of a minister. In 2017, a decision was issued appointing Prince Hussam Bin Saud Bin Abdulaziz as the prince of al-Bahah Province.

Governorates of the Emirate of al-Bahah Province

The emirate of the region comprises nine governorates. According to the regional system issued in 1992, amended by a Royal Decree in 1994, each emirate consists of several governorates. These governorates are divided into two categories, (A) and (B), in addition to several centers. This division considered the residential, geographical, and security situations, transportation routes, environmental conditions, and the historical significance of each governorate.

The governorates of al-Bahah region include Category (A): Baljurashi, al-Mandaq, and al-Mikhwah. Category (B) includes six governorates: al-Aqiq, Qilwah, al-Qara, Bani Hassan, Ghamid az-Zinad, and al-Hajrah. Together, they comprise about forty-two centers.

The regional law included standardizing roles, units, and administrative names. It determined the functional level of the emirates, provinces, and centers officials and the powers each one held. Accordingly, the Deputy Governor of the Region in the top rank, Undersecretary of the Emirate in the 14th rank or higher, Governor (A) in the 14th rank, Deputy Governor (A), Governor (B) in the 12th rank, Head of Center (A) in the eighth rank, and the Head of Center (B) in the fifth rank.

The area of al-Bahah

The area of the al-Baha region is 12,000 km, covering approximately 0.6 percent of the Kingdom's total area. According to the Saudi census of 2022, the population of the region is estimated at 339,174 individuals, which represents about 1.05 percent of the total population of Saudi Arabia. The population density is around 28 persons per km of its land. Saudi nationals constitute the majority, comprising 74 percent of the total population of the region.

Mandates of the Emirate of al-Bahah Province Emirate

The primary responsibilities of the Emirate of al-Bahah Province encompass coordinating and collaborating with governmental entities during planning stages to ensure comprehensive services are provided to both citizens and residents. Moreover, the Emirate addresses their grievances, looks into their concerns, strives to meet their demands, and resolves their issues. They also focus on maintaining security, overseeing the delivery of justice within the province, ensuring the efficacy of services provided to the province's inhabitants, and working diligently to enhance and develop these services.
