The Emirate of the Northern Borders Province is one of the emirates of the thirteen Provinces in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, representing the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques. It is organizationally affiliated with the Ministry of Interior and is headquartered in Arar City.
The Emirate of the Northern Borders Province was established after the unification of the Kingdom. It adopts the visual identity of the Ministry of Interior as its logo. It operates from its headquarters in Arar, located on King Abdulaziz Road. This location is approximately thirty km away from Arar's Airport by car.
Arar City is distinguished by its strategic location on the international road that connects the Gulf Arab countries with Jordan, Syria, and Lebanon.
The Emirate of the Province is affiliated with three governorates. According to the Law of Provinces issued in 1992 and amended by a Royal Decree in 1993, each emirate consists of several governorates. These governorates are divided into (A) and (B) classes. In addition to these, there are several centers. This division considered the residential, geographical, and security conditions, as well as transportation routes, environmental circumstances, and the historical significance of each governorate.
The class (A) governorates of the Northern Borders Province include Rafha governorate, while class (B) consists of two governorates: Turaif and al-Uwayqilah, in addition to Arar, the province's administrative capital. They collectively include about twenty-eight centers.
Mandates of the Emirate of the Northern Borders Province
The primary mandates of the Emirate of the Northern Borders Province include coordination and collaboration with government entities during planning stages to provide comprehensive services to both citizens and residents, in addition to receiving their complaints, considering their issues, and working on fulfilling their requests and solving their problems. The Emirate also strives to maintain security, oversee the administration of justice in the province, verify the efficiency and effectiveness of the services provided to the province's citizens, and work on improving and developing these services.
Each Emirate has a Governor appointed by a Royal Order at the rank of a minister. In 2017, a Royal Decree appointed Prince Faisal bin Khalid bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz as the Prince of the Northern Borders Province.

The population density in the region is about three people per square kilometer, and its area is approximately 104,000 km, representing 5.3 percent of the Kingdom's total area.
