The Midian Mountains are a mountain range in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, extending from south of latitude 28° north to the border with the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. These mountains constitute the northern section of the Western Highlands range. Its highest peak, Jabal al-Lawz, reaches 2,549 m above sea level.
Location of the Midian Mountains
The Midian Mountains are close to the coasts of the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aqaba, and are adjacent to them in some areas. The coastal plain disappears alongside them, especially on the coast of the Gulf of Aqaba. The Midian Mountains are composed of several complex mountain hills and high peaks.
Highlands of the Midian Mountains
The Midian Mountains encompass many highlands, including Jabal al-Lawz, its highest peak at 2,549 m, Jabal az Zuhd at 1,980 m, al-Shayati at 2,103 m, Jabal Harb at 1,786 m, and Dubbagh at 2,315 m.
A group of valleys flow from its mountains into the Gulf of Aqaba and the northern Red Sea, including the valleys of Mibrik, Umm Jurfin, Ifal, Aynounahm, and Tirim.
