The Saudi National Museum, located in Riyadh, the capital of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, contains approximately 4,413 valuable archaeological and historical artifacts that span thousands of years. It also has around 221 display cabinets showcasing animal figures and structures, human artifacts, and ancient rock inscriptions.
The museum is one of the Kingdom's heritage and cultural landmarks. It was constructed in 1999 and covers an area of seventeen thousand m. It is located on the eastern side of the King Abdulaziz Historical Center in al-Murabba District, next to the palace of the founding King Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman al-Saud.
The museum consists of eight galleries: Man and the Universe, Ancient Arabian Kingdoms, Pre-Islamic Era, The Prophetic Mission, Islam and the Arabian Peninsula, The First and Second Saudi States, The Unification of the Kingdom, and finally, the Hajj and the Two Holy Mosques. Each gallery features a permanent display that covers an aspect of the cultural evolution of the Arabian Peninsula in chronological order.
