The Council of Foundations is a body that represents non-profit organizations before the National Center for Non-Profit Sector, as well as governmental and private entities. It is located in Riyadh City, the capital of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Established in 2019, it aims to empower and develop organizations, achieve cooperation, integration, and coordination among them, and provide support services to achieve sustainability and institutional excellence.

The role of the Council of Foundations

The role of the Council of Foundations in the community includes contributing to the formulation of regulations and legislation, empowering and developing non-profit organizations, coordinating and integrating these organizations, and providing support and assistance to them.

Responsibilities of the Council of Foundations

The responsibilities of the Council of Foundations, approved by the The National Center for the Development of the Non-Profit Sector, include forming partnerships and qualitative relationships that support and empower the non-profit sector, conducting surveys and preparing studies and research related to the non-profit sector and publishing them in coordination with relevant entities, providing support, assistance, and advice to non-profit organizations and related entities to empower the non-profit sector, coordinating with relevant entities to resolve problems and address challenges faced by non-profit organizations, promoting the culture of financial sustainability and ways to enhance it within non-profit organizations, raising awareness about grant and support priorities that non-profit organizations can contribute to, raising awareness about the importance, purposes, and activities of non-profit organizations, including organizing exhibitions, conferences, and seminars in coordination with relevant entities, collaborating with regional and international entities related to the non-profit sector to contribute to its development, and implementing other means approved by the General Assembly, provided they do not conflict with the objectives and responsibilities outlined in these regulations.

Funds and platforms of the Council of Foundations

The Council of Foundations launched the 'Community Fund' at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, with a capital of SAR500 million, to enhance the non-profit sector's contribution to meeting community needs. The council oversees the Kyan electronic platform, which brings together entities licensed by the Ministry of Commerce and those working with the charitable sector, whether for-profit or non-profit, in one place. This enables the council to serve various aspects of non-profit organizations' operations. The platform aims to facilitate the work of non-profit organizations and guide emerging non-profit institutions to relevant entities for their benefit.
