Riyadh Theater Forum for Innovative Performances

The Riyadh Theater Forum for Innovative Performances is an annual art forum that brings together theater enthusiasts in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It is organized by the Saudi Arabian Society for Culture and Arts in Riyadh and lasts for three days. The forum includes theatrical performances, workshops, and training courses. It aims to support young people and provide them with the opportunity to innovate and renew theatrical performances and techniques.

The first edition of the forum was held in August 2021 under the name 'the Artist Mohammed al-Towayan Edition,' and the second edition took place in October 2022 under the name 'the Artist Rashid al-Shamrani Edition.'

The Saudi Arabian Society for Culture and Arts organized the first Riyadh Theater Forum for Innovative Performances on August 2, 2021, under the title 'Mohammed al-Towayan Edition.' The forum lasted for three days and included several courses, workshops, and directorial theatrical performances presented by young talents.

The Second Riyadh Theater Forum for Innovative Performances began on October 16, 2022, under the title 'the Artist Rashid al-Shamrani Edition.' The forum's program included 'Iwan al-Ma'athar,' a film that narrates the artistic career of Dr. Rashid al-Shamrani and his experience with theatrical art. Additionally, there was an exhibition showcasing photos of the plays presented by the association over the past years. The forum also hosted a theatrical performance competition, offering ten awards to the winners. The competition was supervised by a specialized jury composed of experts with experience in theater. The works were honored according to standards and specifications for excellence in directing, script, and actors' performances.

At the conclusion of its activities, the forum recommended the establishment of a new mobile theater for the Saudi Arabian Society for Fine Arts, the continuation of innovative performances by the association each year, and the inclusion of specialized and professional experimental workshops in future editions of the festival.
